Yashodhan is a licensed architect in India and a graduate student pursuing a Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design (M.S.AAD - formerly M.Arch II) at Cornell University’s College of Architecture, Art and Planning. His work explores the intersections of architecture and discourse, focusing on research, representation, and built form. He began his master’s studies at the Gensler Family AAP Center at 26 Broadway in New York City, completing a studio under Adam Frampton, followed by another studio under James Lowder and Michael Loverich, before continuing his investigations in Ithaca, located in the Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York, where Cornell's main campus is situated.
He completed his five-year Bachelor of Architecture at Faculty of Architecture, CEPT University in Ahmedabad, India, where he conducted a research thesis under Prof. Sachin Soni, examining the relationship between architectural works and the written discourse of Prof. Jaimini Mehta. As an exchange student at UPM ETSAM in Madrid, he studied under Emilio Tuñón and was selected to participate in a lecture series by Alberto Campo Baeza, further expanding his theoretical and design perspectives. The exchange semester played a crucial role in broadening his understanding of the European architectural context.
Beyond academia, Yashodhan gained hands-on experience through a seven-month internship at pool Architekten, a prominent Swiss architecture firm in Zürich. As part of the competitions team, he worked on major projects, including the architectural competition for the new headquarters of the cantonal administration in Liestal, a cooperative housing settlement competition in Zurich, the urban masterplan for the industrial area in Schaffhausen, and the mixed-use building Papieri-Cham in Switzerland.
His interests extend into printmaking, particularly intaglio techniques such as drypoint and aquatint. He is currently engaged in an independent study in lithography, using printmaking as a medium to experiment with architectural representation. Additionally, during his time at CEPT, he was elected to head Travelling Without Moving (TWM), a student-led club that invited speakers to share their unique travel experiences with the student body.
At Cornell, Yashodhan is actively involved in research projects, currently working with Prof. Lily Chi on an incremental housing exhibition and with Prof. Katharina Kral on the design and construction of "Encroach" a pavilion set to be installed at Cornell’s Arts Quad. With a deep interest in architectural narratives, he continues to explore the dialogue between built form, research, and representation, positioning architecture as both a discipline and a discourse.
